Barbara Bush Elementary’s Counseling Program 2007-2008

Barbara Bush Elemenary’s Counseling program is designed to comply with the Texas Education Agency’s four components of a developmental school guidance and counseling program. The school counselor, Mrs. Feasél, shall work with the school faculty and staff, students, parents, and the community to plan, implement, and evaluate a developmental guidance and counseling program. These four components are: guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.  Mrs. Feasél will spend most of her time teaching preventative guidance lessons.  Character Counts will be covered each six weeks.  These lessons assist the students at Barbara Bush Elementary with positive life long social skills.  Mrs. Feasél has been trained with Critical Stress Incident Management in case any of the students need trauma or grief counseling. She will have a weekly class with the Kindergarten students.  She also intends on having lunch once a week with the 5th grade students. Personal Graduation Plans will also be a project that will be completed this year.  She is most concerned about their academic success and will do whatever is needed to ensure they achieve their goals!
