PROGRAM  OVERVIEW

The gifted and talented class is for those students who display  an above average  level of academic and cognitive skills. Teachers,  parents or administrators may nominate a child for the program. After the nomination is made several tests are given to the student. These tests include reading, math and cognitive skills. The tests are scored and it is then determined if the child qualifies for the GT class. Students in grades one through five can be tested once a year.

GT students  in the first through third grades attend the GT class for an hour each day except Wednesdays. The fourth and fifth grades attend the GT class every day. On Wednesdays they are involved in accelerated math classes.

The gifted and talented class offers the students a diverse curriculum with the opportunity to learn and be challenged with other students who exhibit the same high level of skills.
